In 2009, Jonian Dolphin Conservation stepped onto the field to explore, educate, inspire, and empower people to respect the sea resource through knowledge.
Every day, we are committed to safeguarding dolphins and sperm whales through scientific research and awareness programs. We are grateful because people of all ages, origins, and social backgrounds are helping us and sharing our mission: promoting the blue economy and acting to ensure cetaceans have the right to live freely.
We conduct our Citizen Science activities both at Ketos, the Association’s headquarters, which hosts multiple initiatives, and aboard state-of-the-art research and monitoring vessels during the “Researchers for a Day” program, which is not just a day at sea but a powerful gesture of love towards the marine ecosystem.
You should know that thanks to Members and Volunteers, we manage to spend over 200 days at sea each year, which translates into: research, awareness, and knowledge dissemination.
Being part of Jonian Dolphin Conservation has distinctive value because as a member, you leave a mark. You are the protagonist of conservation actions as well as a partner in an international project for the recovery and rehabilitation of cetaceans from captivity: the San Paolo Dolphin Refuge.
