"Taras is the vessel where it all began! In all truth, since 2009 our activities have been systematically carried out on board a fast offshore RIB, but already in the year 2000, our initial explorations were taking place on board the Lady Luna, a motorboat owned by the Cantieri Greco. It is with Taras, however, that a new era of our activites has begun. Our gorgeous 40 FT research catamaran, built by the LADY-HAWKE shipyard upon specific request of the JDC Project, is now our main research and observation platform. "
With a floor area of more than 50 square meters, a sighting turret located at a height of 6 meters, and our state of the art scientific equipment installed, our catamaran is the ideal vessel to study cetaceans in their natural environment.
Motorized with two noiselses Volvo Penta 75 HP, Taras allows a cruising speed of 10 knots and a maximum speed of 19 knots, and it can accommodate up to 35 people on board, including the crew. Taras is equipped with a large net in the bow area, which allows our guests to experience an incredibly close contact with the cetaceans.
